A little Tutorial for you!

Today is Tuesday and you know what that means? A new tutorial at Shelly's Images!

I love flowers and now that I have a niece, it's no wonderful to be able to put MORE flowers on layouts!
These little (or big) flowers are just fabulous for everything - layouts, cards, altered projects.

And the cool thing?  They're SUPER CHEAP to make.
All you need is some typical studio supplies and the weird part - used dryer sheets - my hubby couldn't understand why I kept taking all of the used dryer sheets into my studio....my studio smells like one clothes line fresh basket of clean laundry!!

After seeing these little beauties, he's happy to hand over any dryer sheets he finds in his clothes that have eluded us in the folding process.  :o)

Be sure to stop over to Shelly's Images for the step by step instructions on how to make these adorable flowers.

Also, don't forget, you still have time to join us this week for Marion's TTT Challenge.  You don't want to miss participating in this challenge - heck, you never know, YOU could be our winner this week!!

Hope you have a terrific day!

Happy Sunday!

What a frightfully fun time we had last night at Shelly's Images CDAC group!
It was great to meet and play with so many great folks!
We hope that you'll all come back and join us again very soon!!

We spent another BUSY day at the farm cutting down trees and hauling them (man I'm an expert wooden igloo maker after today), we shoveled the barn and mended fences, opened up a paddock and made 2 horses VERY happy with all the new growth they get to feast on.  Then we got to spend a bit of time chatting with my folks planning our mid-October maiden voyage with the 'lake-house'.
We also enjoyed a Michigan football win, a Michigan State football win and a Stanford football win today!
WINNERS all the way around!!

Today we're layin' low and putzing around the house.  Have a few projects here and there to finish up (and even some fun & crafty projects!!).

Technique Tuesday at Shelly's Images

Happy Tuesday all!  Thanks so much for stoppin by today.  I've been having wacky computer issues all day that are making me just crazy, but everything seems to be up and working correctly now (hopefully it's not user error, or id10t error (as in idiot - I learned this from my friend Jean whose son is a Computer Fixer-upper Student).  I thought it was funny.

Of course, as usual, I digress!
Today is Technique Tuesday over at Shelly's Images!  I don't know about you, but I have LOTS of scrappy STUFF in my studio - I think that's a pre-req for being a scrapper.   :)
Some days I need something that isn't quite the right color and I don't have time to chase around at the store looking for something that will "WORK".
I LOVE being able to "MAKE THINGS WORK" without having to spend more $$.
So, pop over for a little technique reminder and some 'thrifty' scrappin'.

Inspiration with a little ABC Challenge

Have I told you lately how much I enjoy the Anything But a Card Mondays at Bugaboo??
I love using Jodie's super cute images for cards and things other than card, but today I was really inspired to use her cute little dino's on a layout for my nephew's scrapbook.

Last year for Halloween he was a Purple Dino (he loves purple and loves dinos - so it was fitting).  Because his dad was in Japan for work the month of October last year, Uncle Glen and I got to participate in the Halloween festivities - which involved us getting some photos with the super cute Purple Dinosaur Birthday boy!
We took several photos, but this one was one of my favorite photos - for some reason Colin loves "UP CLOSE" photos and his "UP CLOSE" photos always make me laugh.  I have several from when he was super little and this is just another one in a string of "UP CLOSE" photos we've taken.  Silly Boy!

Seems his cute little sister is following in her big brothers "UP CLOSE" footsteps! LOL
Paper - Paper Studios: Dinosaurs printed paper; Cardstock and Coredinations papers; Kraft Paper
Technique - Making your own paper by stamping and Paper Piecing for Dinos
Coloring - Copics
Cricut - Alphalicious for page title
Extra STUFF - Corner Rounder, Studio G and Hero Arts Stamps, Doodling, Googley Eyes, Pre-cut Borders (Bazzill and Doodle Bug), Color Box Inks - Chestnut Roan, French Blue and Tangerine, Purple Brads and Dimensionals
Nice to at least get ONE page for his album done in less than a year (yep, by a hair, I know :)
Believe it or not this layout was also created as part of my Scrap-U Economics Class too!  What's more economical than USING what you already have to create a project?!  :)

Operation Write Home

So, I was on a roll last night, but didn't take photos of the last few cards I created - hubby and I ended up playing Wii last night (we did some bowling) then we had company that stopped over late.
So tonight, now that we're home from the farm (we spent the day cutting down tree limbs and a few trees that needed to be removed).
Anyway, made it home, showered and are now watching football - Michigan rolled, and tonight MSU is playing ND.
Okay, enough Blah Blah Blah - This one is for the Operation Write Home Challenges that are popping up all over the place:
Shelly's Images (OWH Birthday)
Pile It On (OWH Birthday, Anniversary or Christmas)
KAH-Wink-E-Dink (OWH Birthday)
Cupcake Craft Challenge (Sketch 108) - Sounded like the perfect blog for a Birthday Card challenge! :)
365 Cards (Busy Background)
Image - Shelly's Images "Cupcake"
Papers - Everything from my stash I think the print paper is either Doodlebug or Paper Studio
Coloring - Copics ( Just realized I need to pick up a few more pinks)
Extra STUFF - Ribbon from my stash & Sentiment - Studio G, Chalkbox Chestnut Roan Ink, Candle was actually rolled paper with a little bit of embroidery floss out the top.
Can I tell you how hard it was NOT using glitter or bling?! WOW!!
Thanks so much for stoppin' by tonight.  Crummy weather tomorrow, so between laundry, a little crock pot cooking (basa and kraut - mmmmmm) I'll spend the day gettin' scrappy!!

TGIF!!
I FINALLY got to do some scraftin - oops, was I trying to type scrappin' or craftin'??
Guess today's a make up your own word Friday.  LOL

I've been looking at all the wonderful challenges all week and just WISHING I could participate in at least a few.  We're just about done with all the peach canning and I figured I DESERVED a reward!!!!!
FINALLY tonight, I got one!!

My Challenge Journey began with the Bugaboo Stamps/Catch The Bug Challenge (Fall and Sewing) which lead me to the Whimsie Doodle Challenge (Sew) and thinking of Sewing lead me to the Sew Many Challenges (embossing) and when I emboss I usually end up Distressing things too which lead me to the ABC Challenge (distressing)and after all the fall air and sewing, I needed to do a little Eat Sleep Stamp and used their sketch which then lead me to The Kitchen Sink (Fall).

So, after ALL that, here's what I came up with!
Image - Bugaboo Stamps "More Turtles - TURT Fall"
Paper - Kraft and Burgandy Cardstock
Technique - Heat Embossed Leaves on image
Distressing (with Ink)
Handmade Paper (leaves)
Coloring - Copics
Punches - EK Success
Extra STUFF - Burlap, Buttons, Leaves, Miscellaneous Leaf stamps and Faux Stitching
Man I love a challenge!!

And the Award Goes to....

I don't know about you all, but I follow a ton of blogs - blogs that I'm inspired by the creations that are made and blogs that the blogger makes me laugh so hard some days I nearly pee my pants.
Rae Anne falls into BOTH of those catagories!!
I found Rae Anne's blog when I found Bugaboo Stamps in January and I make an effort to stop by as often as possible (especially when I need a good laugh).  If you've never been to Rae Anne's blog, take a stop by, you won't be sorry you did.  So, because I was crazy busy with work and MORE PEACH FREEZER JAM yesterday (photos coming soon), I didn't get a chance to pop by.
When I did today I had a super laugh and decided that I would provide Rae Anne with the award she so rightly deserves.
Rae Anne - This Award is for you!  Wear it proudly girl!!
FYI - It was almost a "Dedicated BS Crafter" or "Dedicated BS Artist" but it didn't sound quite right (funny, but not right).  The BS is for  Bugaboo Stamps just in case you were wondering.  So after rethinking medal creation and naming, this is what I came up with.

However, Rae Anne, if you're rather be a Dedicated BS Artist, let me know and I'll 'reaward' you the medal!
Happy Friday!!

Operation Write Home at Shelly's Images

Join us at Shelly's Images this week as we support the efforts of Operation Write Home - an organization that supplies our War Heros who are away from home with handmade cards to send to their families.

It's easy for us to 'run' to the store and pick up a card to send to a loved one, or if you're a card maker, whip up a birthday card, thinking of you card or Love you card.  But these men and women don't have that opportunity.  Imagine how much it means to a little girl to get a birthday card from her daddy overseas.

My husband and I have adopted several of our service men and women over the past 5 years and have been blessed to hear from each and every one that we've adopted.  It broke my heart to look at the list of things they would ask for us to send in the care packages we sent.  A box of their favorite cereal, a birthday or anniversary card that they could send home, hot cocoa.

In talking with my dad and my father in law - both Vietnam Veterans who spent time overseas - they would both tell me just how much the little things meant (a letter for THEM from home was cause for celebration!).  And even my mom being on the receiving end of getting something from my dad has often told me how much she looked forward to the letters she would get from my dad - as few and far between as they may have been.

That's why I'm all about celebrating this week with Operation Write Home.  We're celebrating with them and creating BIRTHDAY Cards!  If you join us at Shelly's Images, show us your card creations, you'll even be put in a drawing to win freebies!  :)

You can visit Operation Write Homes website for details on card size, guidelines to follow, etc and once you've created your masterpiece to share with one of our brave heros, be sure to stop by Shelly's Images and share with us what you've created!!

Support A Soldier - they give up so much so we can enjoy our freedoms!!

The Study of Economics

Today is my chance at trying my Professor skills at Scrap-U
We've been having SO MUCH FUN this month, getting a ton of project done and learning all kinds of awesome new techniques.

Today is no different!  Today's class is ECONOMICS.
BLECH!!!
That's what I think of when I think of Econ.
I think of the Econ class I had in the 11th grade that I despised going to.
The painfully B-O-R-I-N-G Econ class in college that I HAD to go to.
But at Scrap-U we make school FUN!!!
This is an Economics class you're NOT gonna wanna miss!!!
Stop over - you've still got 1/2 a month to join us and learn all kinds of FUN new things.
So, come join us!  Even if you're that student in the back of the room sleeping, or blowing spit balls at the ceiling - you're welcome to join us - we LOVE a little SPICE - the more the merrier - no matter what kind of scrappy student you might be ;o)
School is BACK in session!

Man, Do Peaches Ripen QUICK!

HA HA!!
I tell you, yesterday the peaches felt okay, not too squishy, like I had a few days to tinker around before I started peeling and canning them and then today, HOLY COW, like OVERNIGHT, they're RIPE and going to be peach jam instead of lovely peaches in jars.  How in the world did that happen??
Heck, the last time my mom and I made peach freezer jam, we couldn't find any RIPE peaches to save our lives.  This fall, I've got more ripe peaches than I know what to do with.
I wonder if they're comin' out my ears yet......
Guess I know what everyone's getting for Christmas this year??  LOL
At this rate, I may be taking orders for Peach Jam this year - any takers??
Umm, Yah, so that's my story today and probably tomorrow.
Photos to follow of course :)

Happy Monday!!!

Whew, how is it weekends go SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FFFFFFFAST - even when it's a 3 day weekend??

Friday we spent the day at my folks.  They had their "Lake House" pullin' truck delivered.  Now all we need to have done is the hitch installed and they're good to go where ever the wind takes them!  Or course, there were a ton more veggies we picked - about 5 pounds of beans and about 7 or 8 pounds of roma tomatoes (along with green onions and peppers).  Friday night was a late night - at 12:30 am I was baking a HOMEMADE Carrot Cake for my mom's birthday on Saturday and at 1:30 my hubby was cleaning the 9 pounds of ribs we planned to dine on Saturday evening with friends and family while cheering on the Maize and Blue.
We cheered them on all right - we cheered them on to a BIG win over the whining Irish. What a great game! We got to enjoy my niece and nephew Saturday too! Colin was so fun honking the horn with Uncle Glen when Michigan scored.
My Sweet Sucky-Thumb Niece
This is what we call "EXTREME BABY CLOSE-UP" at our house!!
My dad enjoyed the game, mom is now making super cute little felted pumpkins (I'll be sure to take a photo and show you.....yep, will be makin' some of those soon!).  Mom K got to snuggle with Natalie, Glen got to BBQ with his bro and I got to make twice baked potatoes that were super yummy with the help of Colin.  We had YUMMY viddles, great company.  After everyone left and we made our way through four loads of dishes, we had a few beverages with our neighbors - always a good laughin' time.

Sunday, Amy, Susan and the kiddos and I had a birthday lunch planned. We enjoyed lunch on the patio at Bar Louie (SUPER YUMMY Tuscan Chicken Pasta - mmmmmmmm!) and then played on the oversized food with the kids. It was the perfect way to wrap up a weekend - but it went WAY TOO FAST!!

My ROCKSTAR nephew at lunch on Sunday

A Happy Girl

Spending time with the Raz kiddos and mama was kind of bittersweet - we learned late last week that they are moving to California.  Daddy Raz was offered a terrific job opportunity, so the fam is packin' up and headed to Cali.  Of couse we're very sad to see them moving (especially THAT far away), but heck, it gives us a REASON to FINALLY visit California (hubby and I have never been).  So for now, we're spendin' as much time as we can with the kids and enjoying them here.

So, with all the entertaining, cooking, lunching, applesauce making and veggie pickin', you can understand why I haven't made it to my studio since Thursday......I'm hoping tonight after a little peach cannin' I can get a little scrappy therapy in.  And maybe, just maybe I can share a little somethin' crafty with you tomorrow?!  LOL
P.S.  Can I tell you I made the yummiest homemade applesauce last night - on a whim I picked up "Pink Lady" Apples the other day when I went to the grocery store.  Can you say AMAZING?!  If you've never tried them before - I STRONG recommend it!!  :)

Sniff Sniff

My sweet little nephew went to his FIRST day of Kindergarten.
It seems like just yesterday he was a little itty bitty Halloween baby (Colin the day he came home from the hospital with his momma in his Halloween onsie and sockies Aunt Min and Uncle Glen got him).
To this wonderful little boy who is a terrific big brother that loves to sing and learn and make us smile each day.  We love him more and more every day.
Boy, I'm glad I didn't have to deliver him to his first day of school - I would have been a wreck and I'm just the Auntie!!
Because the First day of Kindergarten is a special day, it deserved a special card for a special little boy.
Papers - everything is from my 'tover bin.  The green paper was enhanced with stamped numbers and the white 'school' paper was hand stamped
Coloring Method - Copics
Punch - EK Success punch
Extra STUFF - Stamps used are all Studio G, Color box inks and Red Ric Rak
If you think this turtle is cute, stop over to Bugaboo and check out this little dude's friends. He's got a whole bunch - and some that are perfect for the upcoming holidays - Halloween, Turkey Day and Christmas!
And we absolutely had to share a photo of my sweet niece.
How sweet is she??

I love Halloween and EVERYTHING about it, so you can bet these cute little images will be in my collection before you can say HOCUS POCUS!

And because TODAY is TUESDAY - Scrappy has got a great Technique/Tutorial posted today HERE.  You're not gonna want to miss this one - it's got all kinds of super great ideas!

Well then, now that I have my days back in order, I'd better get craftin'!
Thanks so much for stoppin' by today!
